Magnesium Absorbency Test! Our Clinical Trial – Thomas DeLauer

Scottsdale Study

Study published in the Journal of the American College of Nutrition in 2018 – it evaluated the absorption, cellular uptake and clinical effectiveness of MagSRT vs. a placebo in a human clinical trial of 91 people

MagSRT is a time-release Magnesium supplement from Jigsaw Health, containing dimagnesium malate with vitamins B6, B12, and folate

A standard clinical population of 91 adults participated in a placebo-controlled study carried out at two clinics:

53 individuals received MagSRT, containing 500 mg dimagnesium malate and vitamins B6, B12, and folate, while the remaining individuals received a placebo

Baseline serum magnesium, red blood cell (RBC) magnesium, and magnesium status questionnaire scores were collected prior to trial initiation

Serum magnesium was measured 4 and 8 hours after participants ingested 2 supplemental tablets (250 mg magnesium) or 2 placebo tablets

After 30 days, RBC magnesium was evaluated and participants completed the magnesium status questionnaire

A subset of MagSRT participants (24) continued the trial for 90 days. Both RBC magnesium and the magnesium status questionnaire were evaluated at 90 days.

MagSRT was well-tolerated by most individuals, with 91% of participants completing the 30-day trial – individuals who continued the trial for 90 days, reported no side effects

Overall symptomatology, evaluated using a magnesium status questionnaire, improved 28% over 30 days and 63% over 90 days

Red blood cell (RBC) magnesium increased 6% and 30% over 30 and 90 days, respectively

To sum:

Serum magnesium increased by 22% with MagSRT (compared to placebo)

Red Blood Cell magnesium increased by 30% with MagSRT (compared to placebo)

Magnesium deficiency symptoms decreased by 63% with MagSRT (compared to placebo) (5)

Additional Ingredients

Quatrefolic (Folate, Vitamin B9)

Quatrefolic (5-MTHF, folate) is an active form of Vitamin B-9, folic acid – as for many people, it is difficult to convert folic acid into folate – needed for cell division, to make DNA, etc.

Vitamin B6 (P5P, Pyridoxal-5-Phosphate)

P5P (Pyridoxal-5-Phosphate), the active form of Vitamin B6, performs over 30 critical enzymatic reactions in the body, including the manufacture of serotonin and dopamine in the brain

The inactive forms of B6 have to be converted by the liver to the active form, P5P – since Vitamin B6 needs to be converted into its usable form, MagSRT provides it in its active P5P form

Vitamin B12 (Methylcobalamin)

Methylcobalamin is the active form of B12 and is a necessary cofactor for your body’s ability to properly methylate

Methylation is a cycle that occurs in your body billions of times every second – it’s the process of taking a single carbon and three hydrogens, known as a methyl group, and applying it to critical functions in your body – repairing DNA, turning on and off genes, and fighting infections.
