How to get shredded, simplified: http://go2.sixpackshortcuts.com/SH2BD
Today we’re going to talk about some things that happen inside your body that greatly affect what happens to the outside of your body (like your gains and physical appearance).
In order for you to achieve what you want in your physique, you need to be aware of what’s going on inside your body.
So what I’m talking about are hormones. They control pretty much everything that happens in your body and all the processes. Today’s topic is cortisol – which is the stress hormone. We can’t really control our hormones, or at least not the ways we wish we could – like by just saying, “hey, I want my cortisol lower” and it’s magically lower.
But, there are things we can do to help regulate and reduce certain hormone levels that we need lower, and then keeping them constant. When they’re out of whack, our body doesn’t know what’s going on and it raises blood pressure and storing fat.
What is cortisol? It’s the stress hormone that’s secreted when our body experiences stress, whether it’s work, relationships, lack of sleep, etc. When it’s increased, it raises your blood sugar and stores excess fat. This is occurring to prepare your body to fight or flight in case you need energy.
What causes elevated cortisol levels? Poor diet, or missing meals.
Second, Lack of sleep – especially when your body can’t repair itself and recover.
A third cause of increased cortisol is excessive exercising. For example, working 60 hours a week and 2 hours a day – your body doesn’t have enough recovery time to fully heal and your body responds to that as a stress issue that we need to fix.
The first thing we need to do to combat this is getting some sleep! Minimum 6-8 hours of sleep!
Second, stay hydrated!!! Sounds silly, but it’s the truth.
The third thing you can do is get on a diet. Not necessarily a DIET, but eating healthier and making better decisions, making sure you have breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You’ll see the reduction in stress when you have a nice regimen to follow.
Back in the day when i was first preparing for competitions, I couldn’t figure out why I wasn’t able to drop fat like the other guys on my team. I was dieting hard, working out hard, and doing all it took. It was then that I realized my stress was way too high and the cortisol is what kept those extra pounds of fat on me. SO take my word for it and do what it takes to reduce your cortisol levels. It will make a world of difference.
