Do Women Like The Dad Bod?

Yes, women say they like the dad bod, but their dad bod has abs. When a woman says “dad bod”, she doesn’t mean what you and I mean. So if you’re wondering if you can stay soft because women say they like the dad bod, let me show you why that’s not what they’re saying.

What happened when they showed her Seth Rogen

There’s this ManVsStreet street interview where a woman gets asked if she likes the dad bod. She says she’s definitely game for the dad bod. So then the interviewer shows her a picture of a legendary dad bod, Seth Rogen. And her answer is he’s probably not her thing.

So she’s definitely game for the dad bod, but that dad bod is probably not her thing. Then she gets asked what she means by dad bod, and she says someone who still takes care of himself is the priority, and definitely strong.

What she means in numbers

Her dad bod looks like Daniel Craig as James Bond, not Seth Rogen. That’s somewhere around 15 to 17% body fat. You can see his abs, but he isn’t jacked like a bodybuilder. Lean, not huge. A dad bod with abs.

So here’s the two definitions of dad bod:

  • Our definition: soft, belly, no muscle showing.
  • Her definition: 15 to 17% body fat, visible abs, strong, not huge.

What this means for you

Don’t take “women like the dad bod” as permission to stay soft. You hear that and you think, okay, I can stay the way I am. That is totally the wrong way to think.

Now the good news is the goal is not a bodybuilder. You don’t need to be huge. Things get so much easier with women once you don’t have what we call a dad bod and you have what they call a dad bod: ripped with abs.
